While these claims have not been verified by myself, reports from players on NeoGaf, Reddit and Steam suggest the Bioshock Remastered Collection – on PC at least – might not be the best option for players, at least for those wanting a bit more faithfulness to the original games. Users on Reddit have begun providing solutions to access more advanced graphics settings through editing of ini files. The graphics options for the remasters are also fairly limited Bioshock and its sequel have Anisotropic Filtering, Window Mode, VSync, Anti-aliasing and “Expanded” FOV. Lower quality water effects, the absence of surround sound, reduced environmental fog and particle effects, visual bugs, and missing light shafts are among other reported issues – some of these are clear functionality lost from the original game, some returning bugs, and the others are questionable artistic changes. For starters, some bugs from the original game like screen flicker are being reported. The Bioshock Remastered Collection released on consoles this week and PC yesterday, and members on NeoGaf who have jumped into the PC remaster of the first BioShock (a separate client than the original) are reporting inferior aspects when compared to the original version of the game. Uh oh, looks like we have another Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut situation on our hands.
